When the people of God gather in worship, God is active. The Holy Spirit communicates the manifest presence of God in the midst of corporate worship. Declaring the reign of Christ into the atmosphere changes the atmosphere. We believe that one of the ways the Holy Spirit expresses this reign is through the orderly exercise of spiritual gifts. At the heart of our corporate worship is communion, which we receive nearly every Sunday.

Prayer is one of the ways for Christians to know God intimately and personally. Moreover, it is in prayer that we participate with God in what He is doing on earth. We discern the heart of God and add our "yes" to His Word and work. Prayer is the engine of ministry at New Life Church. Every week there are prayer meetings and 24/7 prayer in the World Prayer Center, to bring opportunities for corporate prayer.

We believe that the church is one big family, spanning the generations. Moreover, discipleship is a life-long journey of following Christ together, being formed as the people of God. New Life Church is committed to each generation and every stage of life, from exploring the Bible with children to finding community as a single to leading discussions about God's faithfulness with grandparents.

We believe that every believer is invited into God's mission of redeeming and restoring His world. As a church, we believe we are called to announce in both word and deed the good news that Jesus is Lord, here and now! This happens through church planting, global missions, and local outreach.

We are committed to planting healthy local churches around the United States. As the Lord sends us leaders, our goal is to pay attention to God's work in their lives and to cooperate with it. We take seriously the call to raise them up and send them out for the sake of the world, not holding them back for our own sake.

The flags hanging from ceilings and encircling our buildings at the main campus are a reminder of Christ's work around the world. We partner strategically with full-time missionaries in a sustainable and long-term relationship. We also place a high value in offering a short-term mission experience for members of our congregation. Every year we send hundreds of people from our church on short-term mission trips to serve local churches around the world.

In Colorado Springs, we have launched the Dream Centers of Colorado Springs to provide health and hope for people who are looking to rebuild their dreams. The Women's Health Clinic provides free primary health care to women who are uninsured or underinsured. Mary's Home will provide transitional housing for homeless single moms and their children as they move from a place of vulnerability to thriving. Joel Home provides transitional housing and training for young people who have aged out of the foster care system.

Statement of Faith

New Life Church proclaims the Nicene Creed as our statement of faith. This creed dates back to the fourth century, when Christians came together and composed this formative and definitive statement. The Nicene Creed has stood the test of time as a standard of what Christians from every stream of the Body of Christ believe. It is more than an intellectual checklist of doctrine; it is a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God and draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

IS THERE A KID’S MINISTRY?

YES, while we’re at church, our kids are at age appropriate services of their own. Near all of our main entrances we have signs pointing you to our Children’s Check-In. Kids Ministry is available for birth-6th grade, and during our 11 am service at our Main Campus we also have a service for our junior high students (DSM Jr. High). HOW DO I GET CONNECTED?

We believe that "church" is not only what we do during our weekend gatherings with worship, teaching, prayer and communion. Church is also what happens among the people; together we ARE the Church! WE are the family of God! Throughout the week we gather in GROUPS around the city. And on Sundays at our Main Campus, Section Community is an opportunity to find your place in the family. It’s a chance to get to know others sitting in your section, learn names, share stories and enjoy a meal together each month in your section party.

IS THERE PLACE FOR BREAKFAST OR LUNCH?

Yes. On our Main Campus every Sunday we have a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch before or after service. Enjoy a breakfast panini, a white chocolate mocha or a cup of soup and a ham & cheese croissant. That's just the beginning of our cafe menu. Come to church early for breakfast or stay late and have conversation over lunch.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING SERVICE?

At our weekend services at New Life we sing worship songs, pray together, study the scriptures, and we have a time during the service where you can connect with the people around you. We look forward to worshiping with you and hope you will experience God's presence during our services. If you like someone to pray with you, head down to the front at the end of the service and there will be someone there to talk with you and pray for you.

Does the church operate off of a budget? If so, how is it determined?

The church prepares a budget on an annual basis.

The first step in the budgeting process begins with the vision set by the Senior Pastor and the Elders. The vision is the driving force for the budget.

Once the Senior Pastor and Elders set the vision and emphasis for the upcoming year, the church staff prepares a budget. The administrative team accumulates the budgets for all areas and works with the various ministry areas to complete the overall budget for presentation to the Executive Staff and Core Leadership Team. The Executive Staff and Core Leadership Team reviews and adjusts the budget accordingly. The final budget is presented to the Elders for review, adjustment and approval.

The administration of the church monitors the budget and cash flow on a weekly basis and makes recommendations to the Core Leadership Team and Elders based on actual revenue and expenses.

The church has been operating on a ministry essentials only budget during this economic downturn.

What other financial policies govern spending at the church?

The church has adopted 10 financial guiding principles that can be accessed by clicking here.

The church also utilizes a purchase order system that requires staff or volunteers to obtain appropriate approvals before any expenditure is incurred. Based on the staff person's role and position, there are pre-set spending approval limits. Generally, all department heads may approve expenses up to $1,000. Any expenditure in excess of $1,000 requires approval of the Executive Pastor or Associate Pastor of Administration. Any expenditure over $5,000 requires the approval of 2 Executive Pastors. Any expenditure in excess of $25,000 requires approval of the entire Executive Staff. Expenditures over $50,000 require the approval of the Elders.

How is the salary of the Senior Pastor determined?

The Senior Pastor's compensation and benefits package is established by the 6 non-staff Elders. The non-staff Elders do an annual performance review of the Senior Pastor and make adjustments to his salary on an annual basis. The non-staff Elders utilize salary surveys and comparable data from other churches and ministries of a similar size. They also consider the cost of living differences within the comparison.

Who sets the salaries of the staff and how are they determined?

Every staff position has a ministry job description and is assigned a pay range based on pre-set criteria. The salary ranges are reviewed on an annual basis by the administration of the church and approved by the Executive Staff and Elders. The ranges are developed in utilizing salary survey information and consultation with other churches and ministries of a similar size and in consideration of cost of living differentials. All full-time staff receive an annual performance review from their supervisor.

What does New Life believe about giving and tithing?

At New Life church, we believe that all believers should participate in tithing to the local church.

Throughout Scripture, there are four principles that did not change from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

Everyone should give as they are able
God should get our first and best
Giving should be worship
God blesses generous people

We use the following guidelines for giving - give generously, give regularly and systematically, give voluntarily, give joyfully, give worshipfully, give proportionately, give sacrificially, and give quietly. All giving is a matter of the heart.

How can I give to New Life Church?

There are a three ways to give to New Life Church:

1) Weekly Service
The most common way to give at New Life Church occurs every Sunday during our worship services. At the conclusion of worship and prior to the sermon is the offering time. The ushers pass offering buckets down each aisle in order to receive tithes & offerings from those who choose to give. If you choose to give by check, simply place your check in the bucket. Envelopes are available on the back of seats throughout the row to help facilitate cash and credit or debit card gifts.

2) Online
We also offer online giving at our website. Click here to access our online giving system now. You will need to set up an account and then can choose to do a one-time or recurring gift. We accept online electronic checks, debit cards and credit cards. We prefer that you use electronic check or debit card transaction as we do not advise anyone to going into debt to give to the church.

3) Smart Phone
This is a fun, simple and secure way to give. To try it out simply open a new text and send the keyword "NLC" to the number 77977 and follow the instructions.

Does the church provide tax-deductible receipts?

If you give on-line or have an online account with the church, then you are able to access and print your giving statement here anytime you wish from your own computer.

For members who do not have an online account, the church will print and mail a detailed giving statement by the end of January.
